Tricuspid valve -

The cardiac valves keep the blood moving in the right direction through the heart. The tricuspid valve regulates the opening between the right atrium and the right ventricle. As the right atrium contracts, the tricuspid valve opens, allowing blood to eject into the right ventricle.  When the atrium is finished contracting, the tricuspid valve closes, thereby preventing a backwash of blood ("regurgitation") into the right atrium.
