Long QT syndrome -

a unique form of ventricular tachycardia (VT).  While most VT is seen in patients with underlying heart disease, the VT of long QT syndrome tends to be seen in young patients with anatomically normal hearts.  Their ECGs are characterized by a long QT interval, sometimes seen only during exercise.  The long QT interval reflects electrical abnormalities in their cardiac cells; these electrical abnormalities predispose them to VT.
