LB's HEART
My son was diagnosed with a severe Epstein's anomaly, and had other defects to the heart.
I never clearly understood what exactly he had because I was so devastated that he was born with a "bad" heart. There was not a doctor in Tucson who would perform the necessary surgery on him because it required a little valve to be worked on. Not even the famous Dr. Copeland at University Medical Center of Arizona would agree to commit to him. His cardiologist referred us to Phoenix Children's Hospital where they tried this experimental medicine called nic oxide or something which would help his hypertension situation which was effected because of the heart. The doctors were baffled at how he was even born and survived in me. He died at 13 days of age due to a staph infection. They never knew if the surgery would have worked because he passed. They did say that they had not seen a case like this for at least ten years.
He is in my heart and I miss him everyday. I know that he did not have a good heart but, he did have the strongest heart in the world to be born and let me hold him and change him and hear our voices.
