I am 26 years old. Last year I went in to have my gallbladder laproscopically removed. In the pre-op room I was given the anesthetics versed and zemuron. Once on the operating table, I complained of a headache followed by my blood pressure rising to over 200, then falling to 40. According to the anesthesiologist, I was close to death. None of this, by the way do I remember happening because the versed gives you amnesia. So I do not remember anything that happened between when I was in the pre-op room to when I woke up in ICU. I don't even remember being in the operating room. Anyways, once awake in the ICU, I was told by the surgeon and doctors that they couldn't do the surgery because I had a heart attack. A HEART ATTACK!!!!!! At age 26, WHY? Well, they state that I had an adverse reaction to first the versed, then the zemuron. The following day I was transported to a different hospital where they did an angiogram and several other tests to rule out any problems with my heart that may have caused the heart attack rather than a rare reaction to the anesthetics. No blockages or abnormalities were discovered that would explain the heart attack, but now I was left with a part of my heart that was not working due to damage from the heart attack. I was put on medications to wake up the stunned heart tissue and get it working again. 1 month later was told that all the damage was gone and that looking at the echocardiogram now you would never know that I had a heart attack. 3 months later I went back to try to get my gallbladder taken out again. The surgery was then cancelled by an anesthesiologist this time who stated that there was no way in hell the anesthetics given to me would have caused me to have a heart attack. HMMMMM?????? So, then, why did I have a heart attack. I was kept in the hospital for 7 days while they ran various tests trying to determine yet again other possible causes. Still, they found nothing.

So, my question is, did someone in the operating room give me too much of something or in the wrong order.

Does anyone know anything about the versed or zemuron. Or more importantly, if they really could have been the cause of a heart attack.

Am desperate for some answers, lord knows the doctors and surgeons here wont give me any

Please help in you can.
