Bio-identical Hormones; DHEA, 5-HTP
- Bio-identical hormones may be the greatest thing since sliced bread for women, but really, who knows? No rigorous studies are available. They are being prescribed (yes, even to me) by MDs/FNPs in an unscientific manner, i.e. the doseage seems to fluctuate and where to apply it changes--spread it on the breasts or the labia or on the thin skin of the lower arms above the wrist--depending upon the prescriber. No science behind it whatsoever. I don't feel any different with or without it. All a bunch of hooey.

sally
- biggest overblown health panic..the flu definitely. i am a diabetic living in the south west of uk..near a centre of excellece, thank God! I take four jabs of insulin a day and check regularly. I had the seasonal flu jab but not the other one..I see no signs yet of huge problems. Biggest news this year is Vitamin D either from supplements or the sunshine. We dont get enough for most of us! take more! and Vitamin C

Media Reports on Single Studies
- Your ideas are great. I'd also add all the media reports on conflicting studies that came out, year after year, such as "Research shows coffee is good" and then, months later "Research shows coffee is bad." The media's knee-jerk reaction to report on every potentially interesting medical story in the past decade left a lot of people confused and exhausted -- a perfect "overblown" example.
