Some causes related to cardiovascular disease: Jaw pain is a fairly common manifestation of angina.

Some causes related to other disorders: Several local processes (such as tooth abscess) can produce jaw pain.

Significance: When jaw pain is episodic (and especially if it is related to exercise and relieved by rest, and associated with chest discomfort) the diagnosis of angina should be considered. Unexplained episodic jaw pain should be evaluated by a physician.
