Heart Disease In The News Internet based disease management for heart failure A company-supported study has shown that an Internet-enabled disease management program for congestive heart failure resulted in better health and in cost savings. In the study, patients used an Internet interface to report daily vital signs (pulse and blood pressure) and symptoms. Medical workers used that daily information to manage the care of their heart failure. Patients participating in the Internet disease management program had fewer hospitalizations and consumed fewer health care dollars than patients not participating. This study is among the first to demonstrate that the Internet can be an effective tool for health care delivery.
