Cardiomyopathy -

A weakness of the heart muscle, often leading to heart failure.  Can be caused by a number of underlying disorders including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, viral infection, diabetes, alcohol abuse, or connective tissue disorders.  Sometimes no specific cause can be identified, in which case the cardiomyopathy is referred to as "idiopathic."
