Hello, my story started on oct.13 1999.it was 10:oo pm i was laying on my bed on my stomach watching tv and smoking a cigarette and i took a puff and seemed like the smoke went down the wrong way or something i got choked and i coughed and i tried to get my breathe and i couldn`t and i gasped and tried to calm myself down i thought maybe i was panicking,so i waited a few minutes to see if i could breathe normal, well it didn`t work so i go in the living room where my husband was and he was dumbfounded or something.
I ended up calling an ambulance myself and then i had to answer questions when the attendants came in the house. they got me to the hospital, my oxygen level was 86.i told them i had mitral valve prolapse, but i wasn`t on any medicine for it the only medicine i was on was birth control and blood pressure pills. well they did a lung scan and they did x-rays and i guess that doctor thought i had pneumonia even though i told him i was born premature and that i had bronchial pneumonia 8 times before i was 2 yrs old. anyway i ended up going to the hospital 2 more times, once more by ambulance, and once my brother`s friend and every time they gave me antibiotics and steroids for pneumonia.my mother was in west virginia and when she came home,i finally got to go see mine and her doctor and he did an ultrasound after asking some preliminary questions because he knew me and he knew what the symptoms were and he looked at the ultra sound for a while and checked the left side of my heart.and then he had me to get dressed and told me to call my mother back to the office, i guess he figured i needed her there for support, and he was right even though i didn`t show it. so anyway he told her and i that i have congestive heart failure and that he wanted to put me in the hospital.i was 36 yrs old,i quit smoking while i was in the hospital,i gave it to god, i told him if it was his will that i walk out of that hospital, i asked him to give me the strength and the will to stop smoking, that i wished to quit and i haven`t smoked since.i t took me awhile to get used to my medicine and to get my strength back but, i`m doing pretty good i gained some weight but not too much. but every thing is lookin up.
