In August 2000, at the age of 33 I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure caused by Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Subsequent blood tests showed antibodies to the Coxsackie Virus which is known to cause Myocarditis. My EF in the hospital was 40% and by the time I left the hospital it had stablized to a low normal 50% and has remained there for the last year. I still have many symptoms, but your threshold of "normal" changes and the symptoms just become part of your daily life. My diet has changed tremendously and we do a lot of cooking now. I've also lost 100 pounds. If anyone would like to talk please feel free to contact me.
