I was a drinker and a smoker since I was 15 years old. When I was 34,I was loading my truck when it felt like someone hit me in the back with a sledgehammer;I went to my knees and felt pain in my left arm and
shoulder. I didn't know what happened, rested a few minutes then went back to loading my truck, was real short of breath so stopped and
rested, when I felt better closed up shop and went home. I went to Dr., he said I had a heart
attack, they did a heart cath and said I needed 3x by-pass. I said no way, (I was kinda nuts
then) left hospital - that was 1974.
Took medications, stopped drinking, kept smoking. In 84 started having chest
pains, had 3x bypass done, everything went fine, except I was scared as hell.A few months went by, felt like I wasn't going to die any minute, started feeling better, still smoking, didn't watch my cholesterol. For whatever reason I had no major problems until 96. Chest pain again, another 3x
by-pass. On May 7th 01 ,was told two of my grafts were 100% blocked, the other one 90%!
Was told angioplasty was too risky, heart surgeon said he might can do by-pass, waiting on 2nd
opinion, hope there is message somewhere. Thanks.
