I am a female, 59 years old and in pretty good health except for high cholesterol
that I took medicine for. The first pain I experienced was when walking the dog.
It felt like I had a bad chest cold with pain in my chest from the deep
breathing I was doing. A week later I was walking fast with friends and the pain
almost caused me to have to stop walking. This time the pain never went away,
lessened some but stayed in the center of my chest. The next morning I went to
the emergency room because the pain was still there. They did all the routine
things that an emergency room does and released me 8 hours later with a rx for
cold. Two days later I went back to the emergency room -same pain- same routine
at the hospital. Released 4 hours later with another rx that was a 7 day
antibiotic. I started using the rx but after 3 days an no improvement the pain
was really bad still in the center of my chest. I went back to the hospital.
this time they were slow to do anything and I believe they thought I was faking. My son was with me this time and he
pushed the issue. 1 hour later they did an EKG, and I had already had the heart
attack. I knew was really wrong the night before but I was to embarrassed to call
anyone. It was a bad one and they told me I was lucky to be alive. What more can
I say, Everyone was shocked that I of all people had a heart attack.
