I am a 55 year old Australian male who has always had an irregular ECG. Four years ago my cardiologist diagnosed Brugada Syndrome after attending a conference and discussing my ECG with Dr Ramon Brugada. An ICD was implanted and life was normal until January 13 this year when I experienced my first Brugada heart attack losing consciousness for 12 seconds while my ICD did its job. Although life has a new "normal" for me now with the uncertainty the possibility of future attacks creates and the reality I now need to be aware not to put myself in dangerous situations related to passing out in the event of another attack I am so lucky to have such a great, supportive cardiologist and family to help through the down times. Unfortunately my daughter, 32 has just been diagnosed and will have an ICD implanted.
