DODIE SWEENEY
My daughter Laura has had THREE OPEN-HEART
SURGERIES. She was born with an Atrial Septal defect, ventricular septal defect,
and tricuspid atresia. She is now 20 years old and is in her second year of
college. She had her first surgery when she was 4 months old to have a pulmonary
banding done. At the age of 5 years old she had a modified Fontan surgery. The
doctors were amazed that she was riding a bicycle seven days after surgery. But
then she developed fluid around her heart and lungs which kept her in the
hospital for three long months. The last surgery was done by Dr Lax at UCLA.
This wonderful man performed a Full Fontan on Laura, and now she is a healthy
young lady that hopes to be an author some day. Keep the Faith. There is Hope at
the end of the LONG TUNNEL.
