ALICIA

I am 41 years old,married,1 child,3 grandchildren. I had mitral valve repair surgery in April 2001,in Oct 2001 I ended up in hospital with congestive heart failure w/ejection fraction of 20 and had severe leakage from the mitral valve again. I have had congestive heart failure again twice in 2002 (so far) i am on 8 different meds, stay tired and out of breath most days. Last echo showed ejection fraction of 40 and mild mitral valve leakage. I am being sent to a specialist at Duke to determine whether i need mitral valve replacement surgery. I took Redux several years ago & think this is what's caused my cardiology problems. I am on social security disability. I don't feel better even though my cardiologist says I am better. The cardiac surgeon that did my surgery has suggested I have the replacement surgery, but my cardiologist thinks I don't need the surgery. I am so confused and don't understand what has happened to me and why i feel so tired and breathless most times. I have had bouts of arrhythmias and tachycardia. My cardio will not discuss mortality with me and I often wonder how long i have to live with this disease. Thanks for reading & hope this helps someone else. Alicia
