Heart Disease Risk Calculators

Numerous algorithms have been developed for calculating an individual's risk of developing heart disease. Many of these algorithms have been posted on-line, and here are some of our favorites:

The U.S. News Risk Calculator
This is a simple, 7 question risk calculator based on the famous Framingham study. It applies only to individuals aged 30 - 74, and yields your 10-year risk of developing heart disease.

The MCW Risk Calculator
This is a somewhat more detailed version of a risk calculator based on the Framingham study.

The Healing Hearts Calculator
This one also seems to be based on Framingham, but gives a graphical output, and allows you to compare your risk to a target population.

The Live Well Calculator
Here we go. This one goes far beyond merely a heart disease calculator. After answering questions ranging from what you had for breakfast to whether you prayed today, this calculator computes your overall risk of disease.

The Life Scan
Another whole-life assessment that goes for overall risk (not just cardiac risk), with emphasis on which risk factors you can alter, by changing your lifestyle, to make the most difference.
