Vertigo

Description: vertigo is the form of dizziness characterized a the sensation that the room is spinning.

Some causes related to cardiovascular disease: vertigo is almost never casued by cardiac disease, but can be seen after a stroke.

Some causes related to other disorders: vertigo is usually related to a problem with the inner ear (including a temporary condition, often caused by a viral infection, termed labyrinthitis) or with various neurological condition.

Significance: Anyone having episodes of vertigo lasting longer than 24 hours needs to be evaluated by a physician.
