i have a medtronic biventricular pace maker since 2002 it is one of the first ones i havw chf my heart was not beating properly it was just fluttering the biv pace maker my injection refraction went from 22% to about 34% it is due for a replacement as the batteies are reaching the end of their cycle now if i could just get a little srem cell therapy to rebiuld my heart tissue i highly recomend the biv device by medtronics as they make one of the better models
I have a Boston Scientific Livian Model that just came out in March 08 and it has done miracles for me. I went from a 13% ejection fraction to a normal 55% ejection fraction. I believe all brands of Bivents are as good as another, afterall you do not pick and choose it is your doctor that selects the one for you.
How can a person believe what you have to say about statin drugs when your site is full of Lipitor advertisments?
I had DES stents put in in May 07, and haven’t had any clotting problems, taking all my meds: Plavix, Simvastatin, Aspirin, Prolosec, fish oil, and Toporal (not metroprolol, the brand name was much better. To make a long story short I had some irregular heart rhytmns about 6 months later, wore a Holter moniter, and had several documented episodes of ventril fib so my cardiologist suggested a pacemaker/defibulator. Mine was a St Jude Medical. Its been two months and haven’t had any problems, feel generally better, heartbeat is as steady as a rock! One word of caution if you’re on PLavix or blood thinners stay off it for at least 16 days before getting a pacemaker. I had bleeding problems and two weeks later after a hemotoma developed I had to go back for surgery to have it drained, removed, cleaned, and re-installed. That was a drag! Finally my shoulder wound is starting to heal better after the repeat surgery. One other comment: If you’ve had stents or have angina (burning) and are taking Metoroplol, try switching to the brand name Toporol, 90% of the anxiety causing burning went away, It may do no good medically but not having to feel angina is a great stress reliever, and if you’re a heart patient we know the anxiety we go thru every time we have any kind of chest pain. If you need a pacemaker and can afford it, its well worth the surgery and could be a lifesaver for numerous heart problems.
Very important study about heart failure and how this new pacemaker can help reduce some of the complications. It was very informative.
Heart disease includes a number of problems affecting the heart and the blood vessels in the heart. Heart disease includes CAD, angina and heart failure. There is difference between heart attack and heart failure. In heart failure heart is not able to pump blood through the body while in heart attack an artery is severely or completely blocked, and the heart does not get the blood it needs for more than 20 minutes.

I cannot say how grateful I am to receive the Email and information, as I have known many people who have had pacemakers but theirs have been for when their heart stops to nudge it, the pacemaker my consultant is referring to is when a heart block is given and the patient is totally dependent on the pace maker. There seems to be very little information around about this process. Again Thank you, Beth
