Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation
Friday January 16, 2009
The treatment of atrial fibrillation remains difficult and controversial. For many years, electrophysiologists have been trying to develop a safe, effective technique for eliminating atrial fibrillation the same way they can eliminate many other cardiac arrhythmias - by ablation. This article discusses the current status of their efforts at the ablation of atrial fibrillation.

I had atrial fibrillation show up around June of 2003 at age 69. The following year I had an ablation performed in Asti, Italy. The head of the equipe, Dr. Fiorenzo Gaita, was trained in Bordeaux, which I had understood was one of nthe leading, if not THE leading center for the development of the ablation procedure. At the time I did a lot of research on the web into the ablation procedure for my own edification & I came across articles back in late 2003 & 2004 describing the very isolation of the pulmonary arteries, so I am puzzled by the description of their being new.
i had 2 ablations performed for my atrial fibrillation in 2006. after some healing & adjustment time, i’ve had much less problems than before. my defribrillator has only fired twice in the last 16 months. prior to the ablation, it was not uncommon for it to fire one or twice EVERY month.
Sometime ago I asked if machines like threadmils are safe to use instead of walking in parks? I sufferd aheart attack 6 years ago also like to add was 53 years old then,I still work and try to enjoy life. Thank you so much for this news letter.
