Ranexa Safe for the Treatment of Angina

Ranexa (ranolazine) was approved by the FDA for the treatment of angina in 2006. While Ranexa is the first entirely new drug to appear for angina in many years, there has been concern about its safety. Specifically, doctors worried that patients on Ranexa might experience more cardiac arrhythmias. Now, however, a large clinical trial has been published that shows the opposite - Ranexa actually appears to reduce cardiac arrhythmias.
