When is Stenting Really Necessary?

Friday January 5, 2007
The controversy surrounding drug-eluting stents aside, cardiologists may be using too many stents, period. I just underwent a stend implant based on a 95% artery blockage. How it got blocked I have no clue as I have ALWAYS eaten properly, take fish oil, work out regularily and run frequentlu. I’m a poster boy for NOT getting this disease. Anyway, it is done now. What really concerns me is my lack of time to do sufficient research. But, with 95%, it seems logical to have added one. My cholesterol and Triglycerides are all within normal range, yet the doctor put me on cholesterol reducing drugs and Plavix. All I really wanted to take was fish oil but am now afraid to stop taking them. I am aware of the need for the Plavix, but not the other.

Would love to hear from others with similiar conditions.
