Clopidogrel (Plavix) Not Helpful in Stable Coronary Disease

Plavix (clopidogrel) is a platelet-inhibitor commonly used in patients who have acute heart attacks, angioplasty or stent placement. It has proven very useful in these circumstances. This week, however, the CHARISMA trial reported that the use of clopidogrel in patients who were less "sick" not only failed to help, it may have produced harm in some.
