Does Metabolic Syndrome Exist?

Two prominent diabetes associations have issued a joint statement questioning the existence of metabolic syndrome, and asking doctors to stop telling patients they have it. But at the same time, metabolic syndrome is known to be a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and patients who have it need aggressive treatment.
