Dronedarone - Amiodarone's Weaker Cousin

For companies trying to develop antiarrhythmic drugs, the "Holy Grail" has been to make a drug that is as effective as amiodarone, but without the toxicity of amiodarone. Recently, the highest hopes have been held for a cousin of amiodarone, an agent called dronedarone. The first results from long-term clinical trials with dronedarone now have been reported.
