A Substitute for the Drug-Coated Stent?

If coating a stent with certain drugs can reduce restenosis, then why not just take the same drug in pill form, and eliminate all the drug-coated stent expense (and angst)? Outside of the U.S., this is actually a fairly common practice. Now data from the OSIRIS trial, which evaluated whether oral anti-restenosis drugs work, has been published. Read about it here.
